Thanks for all the reading material! Let me expand a bit on that last post. I tried a number of nights with the CPAP and not having results. I developed a sore on the bridge of my nose, so stopped for awhile. My wife tried the Oura ring one night, and she wears a CPAP the whole night. All of her 90 minutes of deep sleep happened in the first half of the night, with 90% in the first couple of hours. I think 3 hours of CPAP is a good compromise. The sore is mostly healed, but I'm going to experiment without the CPAP for awhile longer. I did my best last night at 60 minutes of deep sleep, and the first time I've put two nights of appreciable deep sleep in a row. It was an interesting day - baby shower for my soon to be first grandchild, but not especially active according to the Oura ring... I do think it will turn out to be exercise - which kind and when is what I will work on next.

Here is another good overview
https://www.healthline.com/health/how-m ... o-you-need

and in it they mentioned Brainwave Entrainment, which is the listening of binaural-beats over time. If done in the delta range (1-4 Hz), it is supposed to encourage Deep Sleep...I may give that a try if I do not see more progress with the exercise.
