Thank you—this is great! Did Dr. Bredesen mention anything about decaffeinated coffee? Is it ok for E4's to drink?
I'm a coffee lover and really enjoy that extra afternoon cup, which I realize may not be wise if I want to prioritize restorative sleep. The study discussion linked below has some interesting observations as to what components of the brew may offer protection from both Alzheimer's and Parkinsons. They note that caffeine is not the driver here, so the decaffenated roasts (dark being best for both) were equally beneficial. Important to point out that the current study was in vitro only, with cell/animal model study underway.
hi Julie, in Dr. Bredesen' s 1st book I think you mentioned you drank a cup of coffee every morning. Do you still do the same?
I do! Strangely, since starting low dose naltrexone, I've kind of lost my taste for coffee but still faithfully enjoy one cup (sometimes 1.5) but I get up very early in the AM and am finished before 6AM. Coffee makes me feel better, cognitively sharper. The longevity evidence is also pretty compelling.

Love this, Plumster! On a slightly different topic, I've learned that I can get the same satisfaction that I used to get from eating junk food (french fries, desserts, and candy) simply by smelling them... and I feel so much better afterwards.
alcohol doesn't smell good (to me) so no problem
coffee I can understand―smells good & can perk me up a little (e.g. being in a coffee shop)
but bread, pastries, candy―I avoid walking past bakeries bc definitely not the same as tasting!
