Migraine with Aura

Post by Robin2038 »

Hi all
I have not been posting for a long time but I read a post on Dr Bredesen’s Facebook page that made me extremely concerned. I am an APOe-3/4 and was doing well with my diet, exercise, and supplements to hopefully prevent Alzheimer’s. However, this new study strongly suggests that those with migraine with aura are 6x more likely to get dementia than those without. Apparently, one of the adverse effects is brain atrophy (i think hippocampus but could barely read the article as i was too anxious to take it all in). The article was poorly written and was confusing but the main point that migraine with aura is bad for your cognitive function. Has anyone read that study or know more about this? If there is nothing i can do to mitigate that risk I feel doomed! My mom is 86, had migraines with aura also and is losing more cognitive ability every day.
Her sister (90) has severe Alzheimer’s.. any advice or additional insight?
