R-enantiomer Carvedilol reverses AD in mice

Post by J11 »

Sorry everyone for posting so much though there is so much great AD news out there.
They reversed AD in mice with the R+ enantiomer of the widely prescribed generic anti-hypertensive Carvedilol?

Even in the presence of amyloid, the R+ enantiomer had anti-dementing effects.
Racemic Carvedilol (i.e., Coreg) would not be helpful for AD.

This is interesting. This is the chemistry behind separating R and L enantiomers.
