Thank you Matisse for the notice. You supplied the motivation and I'm signed up for my second NMR. My first was
over a year ago and did not include IR I'm getting with this one.

Excellent question Harrison.
IMO starting from the most important and easiest then no particular order in point 6 and 7
1. Waist circumference. Visceral obesity is not good in so many nasty nasty ways.
2. BMI. Obviously there are outliers with different muscle bulk in individuals but keep trim and lean.
3. Blood pressure. Keep it at least less than 140/90 but preferably much less than that. No evidence what is optimal but in most diseases lower is better.
4. Measures of glycaemic control. Hba1c. Fasting insulin. Fasting and post prandial glucose. Look at them all to determine if glycemic control is optimal.
5. Lipids only 5th imo. Your triglycerides are directly under your control by diet. LDL in us sadly not much
6. Other measures in no particular order such as b12, homocysteine, hormones in older women, folic acid, liver functions as a marker of fatty liver which is a marker of insulin resustance, D3, thyroid panel, renal panel, CRP. Depends how much money you or your insurance company want to throw at the this. I did the Boston fatty acid balance which was very helpful.
7. Then you get to cardiovascular measures such as carotid intimal thickness and low dose coronary calcium scans.

Drat, too. I just saw this now. But I'll check out the site anyway. It's good to have options (though having just paid the $75 membership fee for Life Extension, I feel compelled to use their tests, unless I can find better prices elsewhere).
ApoE 4/4 - When I was in 7th grade, my fellow students in history class called me "The Brain" because I had such a memory for detail. I excelled at memorization and aced tests. This childhood memory helps me cope!
