“Blood-based β-amyloid 42 and β-amyloid 40 ratio, together with APOE genotype, may be used as prescreening tests in primary care and in clinical Alzheimer disease trials to lower the costs and number of positron emission tomography scans and lumbar punctures," they wrote in JAMA Neurology.

Not sure that looking for AB in the brain with a blood test is an actual test for AD, just a test for AB. Since Tau is unrelated to AB, it makes sense that adding Tau did not help the correlation any...
