All of us Speaker Series on FB Tuesday, Nov 12 at 1pm ET

Post by Berri »

Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias are very common conditions that are difficult to treat. Dr. Suzana Petanceska of the National Institute on Aging and participant ambassador Dr. Randee Bloom will talk about how programs like the All of Us Research Program may advance our understanding of these conditions and someday lead to better treatments and prevention strategies.

This 10-minute episode of the Speaker Series will stream on Facebook Live:
• When: Tuesday, November 12 at 1 p.m. ET
• Where: AARP’s Create the Good Facebook page.

Be sure to bring your questions! All of Us and Create the Good will respond to viewers during the discussion.

Thank you, All of Us

Hi 777,
Here's a link to the Speaker Series information: https://allofustec.nnlm.gov/conversations

It will be streamed live through AARP's Facebook Live link at 1:00 PM EST today: https://www.facebook.com/createthegood/ I assume that link will continue to be active and you can watch the video at any time, especially since they say that a Spanish-language version will be available in a few weeks.

FYI: You don't have to be a member of AARP; I'm not and I was able to open the link.
4/4 and still an optimist!

Very short and not news to many of us here, but good to see the summary and effort broadcast. Some points made:

Besides the top three risk factors of age, apoe4 and family history, a 'whole compendium' of variables factor in:

Increasing Risk
CVD
diabetes
hypertension
obesity
smoking
sedentary lifestyle
social isolation
socioeconomic risk factors

Reducing Risk
higher educational attainment
physical attainment
social engagement
[unless I missed it diet wasn't mentioned]

We don't understand the interplay of all these mechanisms well.

Areas of Promise [and this is really where All of Us fits in]
biomarker discovery
big data to improve research models

Anyone else can feel free to correct or add ...

Dear NF 52, thanks for taking care of this. I had to leave home quite early and hadn't seen the question until just now.

Cheers, Berri
