Blood test for beta amyloid 42/40 ratio

Post by karelena »

I was recently looking on the Quest website and saw that this test is available. They say the test is useful to determine if a case of cognitive decline is likely due to Alzheimer's. Has anyone done this test to see the result, even without cognitive decline? Can it be used to track whether one's preventive strategies are working?

I should add that I'm not sure I would want to know the result. What if the number just keeps going up? I don't really want to watch a quantification of my brain slipping away. But at the same time, what if it could be helpful?

Interesting but could be scary. What did it cost?
