NIH grants Gladstone Institute $4.8M to study ApoE4

They're going to look at proteins that specifically interact with ApoE4 (or fragments thereof). I don't see a lot of research specifically aimed at ApoE4, so this is nice to see.

Yes, there should be much more research like this. We need to find out just what this protein (ApoE) does and how do the different alleles affect this function. Here is a intriguing quote from the article:
The plan after that is to use CRISPR gene editing to see if they can reverse the effects of ApoE4 by activating or inhibiting the genes that control their chosen protein candidates.

Years back I had high hopes for their apoe4 "structure correcters" That research hasn't seemed to move along as quickly as hoped. But I'm glad they're still at it!
