Three concerns with the LifeSeasons ReCode supplements:
The ReCode Daily Multivitamin from LifeSeasons contains 5000 IU of Vitamin A Retinyl Palmitate which I thought was a form to be avoided. There is also Vitamin A (non specified type) in the ReCode Type 4- Vascular supplement.
The ReCode Daily Multivitamin also has 400 mcg Folic Acid (Calcium Folate). I did not see methylfolate in any of the LifeSeasons supplements recommended to me even though they recorded my MTHFR mutation. Shouldn't I avoid Folic Acid?
The ReCode Daily Omega-3's contain EPA 600 mg and DHA 400 mg. I thought the latest science shows that APOE 4's require more DHA than EPA.
I would love for any of you more well informed than me to let me know what you think about any or all of these concerns.

Hi DianeSC! Apologies for not responding sooner. I've chatted with both Dr. Bredesen and the folks at LifeSeasons about your concerns.
Why is this "to be avoided". This is the same preformed vitamin A found in liver, egg yolks, and fish. Beta-carotene is the other version found in the vascular formula, which as you know, is converted by the body (if you're genetically fortunate) into vitamin A. Beta-carotene itself is a powerful antioxidant helpful for both brain and eye health. The ReCode Daily Multivitamin from LifeSeasons contains 5000 IU of Vitamin A Retinyl Palmitate which I thought was a form to be avoided. There is also Vitamin A (non specified type) in the ReCode Type 4- Vascular supplement.
I was pleased to learn that they are reformulating the multivitamin formula to contain 800 mcg of methylfolate to address methylation issues that can lead to elevated homocysteine. The ReCode Daily Multivitamin also has 400 mcg Folic Acid (Calcium Folate). I did not see methylfolate in any of the LifeSeasons supplements recommended to me even though they recorded my MTHFR mutation. Shouldn't I avoid Folic Acid?
This is another one that is being reformulated. The new version will contain 1,000 mg of DHA and 500 mg of EPA. From what I understand, the new formulas for both the multivitamin and Daily Omega-3s will be phased in once the existing supply is sold. Additionally the "Daily Balance" powder will be divided into an AM and PM blend to best harness the energizing effects of some ingredients and the sedating effect of others. I've also heard that the taste will be improved significantly. This should be available any time now.The ReCode Daily Omega-3's contain EPA 600 mg and DHA 400 mg. I thought the latest science shows that APOE 4's require more DHA than EPA.
Re: LifeSeasons ReCode supplements
Quick update. I just heard from the folks at LifeSeasons and the higher DHA won't be available till June because of supply issues caused by the pandemic. I'll let you know if I hear any further updates.
Re: LifeSeasons ReCode supplements
Thank you, Julie! I've been following Dr. Joel Fuhrman and taking his vitamins since 2013 (Wow!...just realized 7 years!) He does not recommend the Vitamin A retinyl palmitate. I just posted a question on the member site to ask why he avoids it in his supplements. I'll repost here when I hear from them.

Re: LifeSeasons ReCode supplements
Does anyone know if Life Seasons has changed the Recode Omega supplement yet to 1000 DHA and 500 EPA? On their website it still lists 600 & 400 mg. I did call , but haven't received a call back.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Thanks!
I did a quick search and found the same information you did. Hopefully Life Seasons will get back to you soon.
I also I wanted to take a moment and say welcome to the ApoE4 community! I see you have been a member since 2019 but I wanted to take a moment and share some wonderful resources this site has. You are probably very familiar with the site, but in case you want to do more customized searches, the How-to Guide provides great tips on navigating the forum.
The Primer also gives a nice intro about the ApoE4 gene and was written by a physician member of the ApoE4.info community. If you would like any other tips for navigating the site, feel free to reach out!
All the best,
