Has anyone else encountered this? I've used MDLabTest.com in the past for a great $75 NMR, but can no longer find the test on the website. I'm wondering if it's just my state that cut the test or is it everywhere? I did find another: http://requestatest.com/nmr-lipoprofile-testing for $99.
After tweaking my diet (a al Dr. Gundry) for the past several months, I''m checking for any changes. I'll share the good, bad, or ugly...because that's what we do
MDLabTests.com no longer offers the NMR...
Re: MDLabTests.com no longer offers the NMR...
Great timing.
Julie - Just found that out myself Monday. Its because they changed to Quest labs and I believe they don't offer it.
However I found Walkinlabs offering it for $73. I emailed them as they have numerous NMR tests and asked what they included in the cheap one and they uploaded a sample just yesterday for me.

Thanks, Ski. I compared both sample reports; they're identical. FWIW, neither offers the full LPIR- no biggee, but I would have paid extra for it. You saved me $26 bucks. Hope I get to treat you to lunch sometime to thank you

No they do offer it. Type NMR in the search it's the next expensive one

Hey Julie,
For what it is worth, I've used walkin before and the cheapo option includes an LP-IR score. If you are <25, that is all they show you, but it does show up on the graph, so you can interpolate.
Here is the info on the more expensive option: $117 which may be more extensive http://www.walkinlab.com/anti-aging/nmr ... ipids.html
Results include:
Cholesterol, Total
HDL Size
HDL-C
HDL-P (Total)
Insulin Resistance Score
Insulin Resistance/Diab. Risk
Large HDL-P
Large VLDL-P
LDL and HDL Particles
LDL Particle Number
LDL Size
LDL Sz
LDL-C
LDL-P
Lipids
LP-IR Score
sm LDL-P
Small LDL-P
Triglycerides
VLDL Size

Re: MDLabTests.com no longer offers the NMR...
Thanks, guys. FWIW, given the huge role that metabolic derangement plays in AD, I think I'm going to opt for the more expensive test...although if LPIR is still low (5 last time directly measured,) I'll move on to the cheaper test.
I also stumbled upon this direct-to-consumer test that focuses more on inflammation. It looks like great information given the dual role inflammation plays in CAD & AD: http://www.knowyourrisk.com/wp-content/ ... L-P015.pdf
