Not everyone on the site is following Dr. Bredesen’s protocol, but if you are looking for a Bredesen trained provider, see Part A below. There are other ways that you can search for a helpful practitioner other than a Bredesen-trained provider—that is in Part B below. Of course, you will want to personally check out any practitioners you find to make sure they are a good fit for you.

A. How to Find a Bredesen-Trained Practitioner:

1.) If you are searching for a Bredesen-trained practitioner, contact AHNP directly to learn more about how to work with a Bredesen-trained physician using this link. Additionally, you can order your own baseline "cognoscopy" without a physician. See the link for details.

2.) You could also use Google (google.com) or another search engine to search for a Bredesen trained practitioner using search terms like: “Bredesen protocol” with your geographic location.

3.) If you'd like to work with an IFM functional medicine practitioner, here is a link to find one in your area. You can select the Advanced Search function (under box to enter your city and state) to choose:

a. A Specialty (like Neurology)

b. A Condition (like Neurodegenerative Disorders)

c. Or Completed Coursework (like Advanced Clinical Training: Reversing Cognitive Decline (this is Bredesen’s Training Program administered by IFM))

Note: upon checking the IFM website on 1/12/19, only practitioners with up-to-date dues are listed. This means that not all IFM trained or certified practitioners will show up in the search. An additional Google search may turn up more candidates.

B. Other Ways to Find a Helpful Healthcare Practitioner:

1.) Dr. Richard Isaacson runs an Alzheimer's Prevention clinic at Weill Cornell. You can learn more here.

2.) If you're primarily worried about heart disease, Dr. Steven Gundry, a cardiothoracic surgeon in Palm Springs, CA, works with a large ApoE4 population using primarily diet and lifestyle measures. You can contact his office here: (760) 323-5553 or heartlunginstitute@gmail.com

3.) You can check with any major university or memory care clinic, but be aware that most have very limited knowledge on how to prevent or address symptoms of cognitive decline. Call ahead and do your homework to make sure that your expectations are in line with what they can provide. Many do offer the ability to provide a diagnosis with cognitive testing, PET-FDG scans, and more.

4.) Be sure to check our members’ Practitioner Reviews and our list of ApoE4 Aware Healthcare Practitioners and ApoE4 Aware Health Coaches on our wiki. Note that Practitioner Reviews are posted by ApoE4.info members, and the ApoE4-Aware wiki posts can be submitted by the practitioners themselves. This information should not be considered a recommendation by ApoE4.info.

5.) Functional Medicine is a systems biology–based approach that focuses on identifying and addressing the root cause of disease. If interested in locating Functional Medicine practitioners anywhere in the world: Functional Medicine Doctors
