Re: Is ApoE4 Neanderthal?
Thanks for the links, I'll definitely be reading the paper! I'm fascinated by our evolved genome and how better understanding of it may provide insights on how we can better match our diet/lifestyle to it.

Re: Is ApoE4 Neanderthal?
I’m not sure, but I think they would already know whether Neanderthals had ApoE4. What I’ve read about is that certain of our HLA genes come from Neanderthals. I figure if Neanderthals were notably ApoE4 we’d already have heard it, but not sure. I think you must be right about that though? Do you k...

Re: Experiences with FMD/multi-day fasts
Question for those who’ve completed a FMD before: I’m thinking of making a veggie purée soup this evening. I do this a lot when juicing, thought it might be a good one for FMD. I usually roast some tomatoes, broccoli and whatever other non-starchy veggies I have floating around the fridge. Then I a...

Re: Experiences with FMD/multi-day fasts
Bernie, Thanks for the report. I also experienced a rise in blood pressure towards the end of my 5 day Prolon diet. Any idea why it goes up....in sympathy with LDL maybe? ;) My sleep was utterly crap during Prolon, glad to hear yours was good but can you remember what your sleep was like on your fi...

Re: Experiences with FMD/multi-day fasts
I did 4 x FMD, one every month over a four month period. I changed the macros on each occasion. I wrote up a report on my last FMD, the link for which is attached.

Re: The strongest evidence yet between gut health and Alzheimer’s
I think what Tiramisu said is valid, I'm not so sure about mouthwash. Inflammation of the gums is serious, and like the sinuses, the mouth is awfully close to the brain....Many people have low grade inflammation of the gums for years and advanced gingivitis. Of course people could use a homemade mo...

Re: Dealing with AD where resources and finances are constrained
Thanks SusanJ, that's really helpful, and it's saved me buying another supplement. We've usually got Brazil nuts in the cupboard.

If you have five minutes to read one article, let it be this one . Thanks MarcR. I need to delve deeper on hormones because if I were to hazard a guess in the absence of testing I would guess that my cortisol is too high and as you suspect my thyroid is not functioning optimally. I thank you for gu...

Re: Nitric Oxide, Vasodilation, Exercise, Nitrate Supplements
Hi Apod, what do you mean by 'massive pump'? How long before the workout did you take the beets and how much? What was the exercise intensity and how long did it last? At what point did you get the BP drop and did that coincide with the nausea? That's bro-science speak for lots of resistance-traini...
