Re: New review of ketone neurochemistry and AD
Went for a long walk after my last post and did lots of thinking about this. I'm pretty sure I was clear enough before, but since I love thinking out loud, I wanted to share this and see what you think: When we talk about metabolic & mitochondrial flexibility and efficiency, that includes how we...

Re: New review of ketone neurochemistry and AD
My knowledge of the effects of ketone salts & esters is virtually zero, so I don't feel qualified to comment on that at all. I would just echo Julie's advice to go slowly. I agree that the degree of ketonemia that might be beneficial for preventing cognitive decline might be less than we think. ...

Re: New review of ketone neurochemistry and AD
Okay, I just looked through this thread, so as long as I'm here, a couple more things: I do think that dietary & lifestyle strategies that might (MIGHT) prevent AD need not be as drastic as those required to slow/delay/stop/potentially reverse it. As they say, "drastic times call for drasti...

Re: WAPF "Wise Traditions" Article by Amy Berger
So if you give me three papers - one from WAPF, one from Vegans'R'Us and one from Nature, I'm only going to read the last one - not because I'm sure it's true, but because I'm almost sure the first two are groundless. I agree with you for the most part. But the implication there is that my own pape...

Re: WAPF "Wise Traditions" Article by Amy Berger
Wow, what a warm welcome! I feel like a celebrity! ;) Really, though, I'm just a nutritionist with an interest in helping people prevent and reverse cognitive decline (among other conditions). I'm a layperson...I don't wear a white coat or spend my days in a laboratory. I may have slightly more foun...

Re: WAPF "Wise Traditions" Article by Amy Berger
Hi Everyone, Amy here! I'm so flattered that so many of you have read my article -- thank you! And thanks for giving me more to think about on all this. I agree with you -- much of this science is, unfortunately, not settled. To be perfectly honest with you, when I wrote the paper (summer 2012), I w...
