Re: Statins when you’re homozygous APOE4
Dr. Bredesen's quest is prevention and reversal, not "management". Do understand you are preaching to the choir here. I'd say most of us here have seen the devastation of Alzheimer's on our loved ones. I currently have 3 family members struggling with dementia (one of which lives in assis...

Re: Rapamycin prevents age-related brain vascular deterioration in rats
Fascinated that we have a similar profile with the good triglycerides and Crp but the not so good ldl and apoB -please let me know when you get them done again and see if they have gone down ok? I didn't eat coconut everyday, so not sure if it will bring the numbers down enough. That's why I added ...

I agree with Plumster that you just need to supplement for a bit. Stress, viruses and other illnesses can deplete zinc.LeighBee wrote:Just wondered if people have seen the low zinc/high copper as indicative of something else typically.

Re: Rapamycin prevents age-related brain vascular deterioration in rats
I have some strange high/low readings in that my APOB is a bit high at 122, my triglycerides are great 0.95 but apoCIII is really high 10.94 (I never heard of this before). But my LP(a) is v low just 7.7 and Crp is just 0.37. LDL is 4.88 (185mg/dL). I am going vegan a few days a week to try and get...

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy E4 Women
However, there is research quoted by Dr. Funk that indicates HRT does cause breast density, which leads to increase risk of breast cancer. This is all so hard to decifer - I need to balance my APOE4 risks with my risk of breast cancer. Any further readings or suggestions? Just curious, did you have...

Re: fasting glucose and a1c
Do you have any thoughts as to why it makes a difference? The acetic acid in ACV suppresses disaccharidase activity, enzymes that convert disaccharides into simple sugars, decreasing blood sugar by up to 20%. It doesn't have the same effect if you're taking it with high glycemic index carbs. Most o...

What if I am allergic to milk, gluten, can't eat anything with saturated fat, and can't eat anything with carbs? Been there, done that, so my guess is you'd rail at the world about how unfair it all is, giving up so many foods. After all you just want one normal thing, your latte, in your life. ;) ...

Glad it's worked for you. It's always amazing to see how we get affected by the smallest of genetic differences. Hopefully, someday, personalized medicine will have a better handle on these types of things.mcpemberton2000 wrote:I guess I'm really sensitive to it. Thanks again!

Protein activation may protect women against Alzheimer's
One for the ladies. At least in mice. Might be a clue however, why women have higher rates of Alzheimer's than men. The study, which is based on mice, shows that activation of the brain protein CYP46A1 can protect women from developing neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. The rese...
