Re: bad 5-day water fasting experience

Katie S thank you for your take! You wrote, Do you feel any difference cognitively with the lower estradiol level? Great question! I was on a fast that upped my ketones, which is supposed to enhance cognitive ability, but I went to an extremely low level of estradiol and estradiol is supposed to be ...

Re: bad 5-day water fasting experience

The lab results are in, much faster than expected. Here’s what happened to my biomarkers after my 7 day fast: Test--------------------Begin of fast-----------End of Fast----------Acceptable Range Glucose, Serum-------91 mg/dL-------------54 mg/dL – low---------65-99 Insulin-------------------3.1 uIU...

Re: bad 5-day water fasting experience

I just finished a 7 day fast and thought I’d share my experience. It was much easier than I thought, although not without “hiccups.” I agreed to this upon the suggestion of my husband, GeorgeN, but not enthusiastically. I was aware of the benefits of fasting, but 7 days seemed, well, extreme. I comm...

Re: When you can't do keto, or sleep....

Cookin74 I am also a 4/4 who maintains a ketogenic diet but can usually sleep well and feel good on it, so I am sorry you’re having these issues. FYI, I am not super low carb. My husband and I follow the guidance of our doctor, Dr Steven Gundry, of “test your biomarkers and see what you can get away...

Re: Vegan Proteins and Lectins?

Apod , Your questions are good, I wish I knew the answers but cannot answer most of them, but there is one: Do the anti-lectin diet proponents (eg. Dr. Gundry) have any protein supplement recommendations? On Dr Gundry’s Matrix diet list under “safe foods” he lists hemp protein powder, which I take s...

I’m also an 4/4, have kept myself in decent shape most of my life, have always had good TGs but high total cholesterol. Just an observation, we are not all alike!

jenlynn, Regarding Dr Gundry You wrote Finally- his book says no beans… Beans, legumes, grains, dairy, and plants of the nightshade family – these are lectins Stavia wrote, Lectins are controversial. I eat them. George avoids them. Julie is sensitive to them. The theory is not universally accepted. ...

Re: New Apoe4 couple

Welcome Tienne, I, too, am part of an ApoE4 couple. My husband, GeorgeN, is a 3/4, his mother had dementia. He tested before me when we were dating at the time. I thought I’d be supportive so I tested too, although I felt it wouldn’t be an issue for me, since the only family history was my grandmoth...

Re: Our Voice of America Story

Look what showed up in my news feed. Not only are we spreading the word on ApoE4, we’re helping people learn English! VOA produced a transcript of our VOA video piece for their Learning English area. They also posted an accompanying audio but slowed down the narration to allow English learners to fo...
