Re: Zero carb diet will help prevent Alzheimer’s
Wow, that's an incredibly well written and researched ultra deep dive into the topic, Susan. Kudos! Thanks, Marc. My research helped me figure out the wide range of problems I've had in the past, and the wiki was a good place to store all that info. Lowering oxalates has been the game changer for me.

Re: MTHFR & base pair basics
I had always thought base pairs had to be either G-C or A-T. From 23andme: Each chromosome consists of two strands of DNA that are complementary to each other. The DNA nucleotide base adenine (A) always pairs with thymine (T) and the base guanine (G) always pairs with cytosine (C) across these two ...

Re: Zero carb diet will help prevent Alzheimer’s
In only 2 months on the carnivore diet, those severe health problems from 5 years on the keto diet, are now just gone. Glad to hear that carnivore has helped your health problems, by reducing oxalate content. It is such a blessing when that happens, especially for those of us who have had health pr...

Re: Blue Zones, specifically Seventh Day Adventists
Does everyone here never let a forbidden grain, a piece of sourdough or whole wheat bread, a nightshade vegetable cross their lips???? From my impression, they don't and I guess I'm just baffled. Not sure where you got the idea that everyone on the site eats the Gundry or Bredesen strictly everyday...

Re: How to adjust keto diet to maximize APOE4 health?
With 150g of net carbs per day, do you easily produce ketones? I went back and looked at my last tracking in December. My daily carbs were kinda all over the place, but generally in mornings after a eating in the 50-100 grams range of carbs, my ketones would range over 1, and mornings after eating ...

Re: How to adjust keto diet to maximize APOE4 health?
Did you also make some changes to the keto diet? As per the other thread, I've been tinkering with my diet to add more carbs, heading towards somewhere around 150 grams net carbs per day. In addition to low numbers of certain microbiome strains (that are carb lovers), I also have trouble keeping on...

Re: Any thoughts on lecithin (phosphatidylcholine)?
This issue is probably more nuanced than choline = TMA = heart disease. I posted this article in another thread, but thought it would be useful to this discussion. Bottom line with any associative study is we don't understand what folks are eating besides meat or eggs (or anything else for that matt...

Re: Hormone Replacement Therapy E4 Women
Hormone replacement therapy is associated with improved cognition and larger brain volumes in at-risk APOE4 women: results from the European Prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease (EPAD) cohort The study shows that HRT use is associated with better memory, cognition and larger brain volumes in later lif...

Re: How to test and solve oral bacteria issues
Erythritol Functional Roles in Oral-Systemic Health Oral health studies revealed that erythritol can reduce dental plaque weight, reduce dental plaque acids, reduce counts of mutans streptococci in saliva and dental plaque, and reduce the risk for dental caries better than sorbitol and xylitol, res...

Re: Very Good Peter Attia podcast
When you say "minor allele" are you saying that "G" is the non-protective version that is usually associated with ApoE4? The paper I cited earlier in this thread said "G" increases the risk. Sorry, we all hope to win the genetic lottery to modify E4 effects, but someti...
