Re: New Member

Others feel that saturated fats are not harmful. Interesting info. I made a choice maybe 2 decades ago, nothing to do with genes, to use liquid fats/oils in cooking and on foods, even potatoes. I just felt eating solid fat equated to clogged arteries rightly or wrongly. I have the occasional butter...

Re: 58 year old 3/4 fitness entusiast

… the perfect diet … Tex, you remind me of my friends over on the atrial fibrillation forum. People new to that keep looking for the triggers. And for most there really is nothing clear as to why they "got" this. A handful of things seem to make one at risk - and those in extreme sports s...

Re: Conflicting Test Results

Welcome, Paul! You're not alone with a mismatched result. Ancestry.com doesn't provide APOE data and has historically used a used a 3/3 default. We discuss it in this thread and probably others. I'd be inclined to go with the 23andMe result although even that one isn't 100%. Thread link does not wo...

Re: 81 and still sane--I think!

I am not keen on cooking and usually make big batches of whatever I cook creating a week's worth. Me, too. As example, I buy a package of skin-free, no bone, chicken thighs, boil and put each in a little freezer bag, put the bunch in a larger Hefty freezer bag. You can use each plain or with whatev...

Re: 23andme VS Boston Heart tests_tone difference

New to site -- flustered, eager, still processing the news. Punch, I'm 3/4, female, age 71.5. I believe in life style as risk is not something set in stone. I've read in the past how there is a tie of cholesterol with brain dementia, heart disease, and similar. My diet for recent decades changed qu...

Which brand

I hope this is OK to post. Another forum posted this as a great website to evaluate brands for supplements and such.

Re: MTHFR and E4/E4

My B12 level is 925, but my FMD says it's OK to take that high a dose as I'm compound heterozygous for MTHFR. My homocysteine is at 9.1 and we want to lower it to 7. Roxanne, I appreciate what your doctor is doing. It does not sound like there is a high level B-12 issue from supplements or food. I ...
