Re: Alzheimer's Cured by Methylene Blue Celebration Thread!
Why on earth did they do the trial where the control group was dosed at 8 mg/day? There had to be some rational reason, because these trials are very expensive to run. Sounds like a new trial does need to be done with better controls. I don't think the FDA could approve a treatment based on a trial ...

Re: Spouse with early stage ALZ resists Bredesen diet what do I do?
Trying to change someone is near impossible - especially when they are a relative. For some reason we trust stranger's advice much more than someone who loves and cares for us. I've dealt with this personally with a brother-in-law who decided to treat his cancer solely through naturopathic methods a...

Re: Genetic Mutation of ApoE protects against AD
I saw this as well, very interesting finding. It was published in Nature Medicine which would indicate that the experts think this is very high impact research. This will be interesting to follow. And yes, another nail in the coffin of the amyloid hypothesis - how many nails does it take to seal a c...

This is a very promising study and the first clinical study to show cognitive improvement via lifestyle changes in those at risk for Alzheimer's. Here's a an article about the study written more for the lay person: https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/30/health/alzheimers-lifestyle-changes-improved-memory-we...

Re: halting Phase III trials of aducanumab
I am very dubious about this, but I am in the minority as Biogen's stock price rocketed up on this news. Large companies don't abandon huge, expensive trials out of "futility" unless there is a substantial reason too. And their stock price took a huge hit when they announced that bad news....

Re: Netflix or Amazon Prime recommendations?
I'm not aware of any movies/documentaries on Amazon or Netflix specifically about Alzheimer's. But a good food documentary on Netflix is The Magic Pill. It doesn't really talk about AD, but it does address other mental deficiencies, and "brain fog" and how they have been treated through di...

Re: Ready to Quit
The strongest causality data says to avoid insulin resistance and try and use ketones as your brain's primary fuel source as much as possible. A direct link has been made between insulin and the clearance of plaques and tangles, as the same enzyme is involved (see https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed...

New paper implicating microglia in AD
Having worked on AD research at previous biotech companies, I have for many years suspected that microglial cells are at the heart of the disease. Now there is a new paper shedding more light on this idea, and also providing a possible way to prevent the disease, even in ApoE4 individuals! Original ...

Re: Markers associated with genetic resililience to AD in E4/E4's
Thanks guys for the great responses. So it looks like 23andme may not report the CASP7 status for this particular SNP (or none of us have seen it so far), but they do for the other one. It also looks like rs4934-A/A may possibly override the apoE4/E4 phenotype and bring it down to possibly E3/E4 (so...
