The twentieth intervention to reverse mild Alzheimer's in the Bredesen Protocol is:

Goal: Ensure nocturnal oxygenation
Approach: Exclude or treat sleep apnea
References: Treatment of sleep apnoea syndrome decreases cognitive decline in patients with Alzheimer's disease

Sleep apnea is a common breathing disorder where sleepers stop breathing hundreds of times during the night. It has been linked to memory decline and dementia. Some estimate that 70 to 80 percent of people with Alzheimer's have it. The most effective treatment is to wear a mask that delivers air, called a CPAP.

The next intervention is Optimize mitochondrial function.
