The sixteenth intervention to reverse mild Alzheimer's in the Bredesen Protocol is:
- Goal: Increase NGF
- Approach: H. erinaceus or ALCAR

NGF (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nerve_growth_factor Nerve growth factor) prevents or reduces neuronal degeneration in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases and these encouraging results in animals have led to several clinical trials in humans.
Hericium erinaceus (Lion's mane) 500mg twice per day. A clinical trial using this herb for MCI (mild cognitive impairment) was published in 2009.
Acetyl-L-carnitine (ALCAR) 500mg per day.
The next intervention is Provide synaptic structural components.
